This article is designed to help you get ready for testing in Window 1.
For Window 1 we started with new information from LDOE by uploading a new student list and creating classes based on information from LDOE.
Each class in ADAM will produce an EOU Class Report based on Window 1 participation.
NOTE: The EOU Class Reports are created based on the classes in ADAM. Creating new Proctor groups to separate students into different testing groups when setting up the Administration does not affect how EOU Class Reports are grouped.
See how setup in ADAM affects how the Administration works in this article...Organization through Administration Rosters - an Overview of how they are related
Topics Covered:
- Review existing classes
- Create new classes/update rosters
- Find unrostered students
Review Existing Classes in ADAM
Navigate in ADAM to Rostering > Classes
Review the classes and the students in the classes. It might be easiest to filter the classes by School, then by Course (there is one course per grade).
- If a class has students, then it will be used to create a proctor group in the administration and a class report will be created for that class.
- If you don't want a class to be used to create a proctor group or a class report, then remove the students from the class.
Note: if the class cannot be deleted, just remove the students.
- Each class is set up for a single grade. Do not modify classes to include multiple grades. We use the grade on the class to determine which test the students in the class should be assigned to. An 8th grade class should be assigned to the 8th grade test.
- If the Grade is set to 'None' then the students in that class will not be assigned to a test.
- If the Grade is set to '2 Grades' (grade 5 and grade 8)then the students in that class will be assigned to the tests for both grade 5 and grade 8.
Removing Students from a Class
If you find classes that should not be used in W1 to create EOU Class Reports and those classes have students enrolled in the class, you will want to remove the students from those classes.
Instructions for removing students from existing classes are found in this article...Removing Students from a Class
Modifying Classes Defined as Multi-Graded
- If the existing class is set with 05, 06, 07 or 08 in the Grades column, then you can skip this section.
- If the class 'Grades' column shows something like '2 Grades' or '3 Grades' (something other than 05, 06, 07 or 08) then continue.
Instructions for modifying classes are found in this article...Modifying Classes Defined as Multi-Graded
Modifying Existing Class Rosters - Removing Students
- If the existing class has all the correct students enrolled, then you can skip this section.
- If the existing class has too many students, then continue.
This is an enrollment step with the existing classes (being used for W1 Class Reports) to make sure the classes have the correct students enrolled. Use your school class rosters to compare against the existing classes in ADAM (we aren't ready to add new classes..that comes up next).
If you find that there are too many students in the class...Instructions for removing students from an existing class is found in this article...Removing Students from a Class
If students are missing from the class, they can be added to the classes in the Quick Class Upload step. If you would prefer to manually add students into classes, this can be done one student at a time by following the instructions in this article...Verifying Enrollments in an Existing Class (Adding Students)
Adding Classes and/or Rostering Students into Classes - Quick Class Upload
Now that the existing classes are set up, you are ready to finish the rostering process by creating some new classes and enroll students who are not already in an existing class.
Two things make it possible for us to use Quick Class Upload.
- All the students for your school are already in ADAM
- The students we need to roster are not enrolled in any classes
This is an enrollment step for new or existing classes. The process works best for school administrators because it will be repeated for each grade within each school.
To prepare for Quick Class Upload, you should know:
- what you want to name each of the classes (for new classes)
- the name of the class (existing classes)
- the name(s) or student LSID(s) in each class by grade and school
Instructions for creating classes and enrolling students using Quick Class Upload are found in this article...Creating Classes and Enrolling Students using Quick Class Upload
Repeat the Quick Class Upload process for each grade/school combination.
Verifying Eligible Students are in a Class
The key to students getting the correct test through an Administration is ensuring classes are created with the correct grade and students are rostered into a class. There are a couple methods described in this article Verifying All Students are Rostered, to help you make sure your students are rostered.
